Mustangs keep moving forward

The Mustangs made the second week of the 2013-2014 wresting season a successful one.  Last Thursday night in our first Empire League Dual against Western High School at home in the YLHS gym, all levels won their respective Duals.  The Frosh-Soph Mustangs won 51-30, the JV won 42-25 and the Varsity ended the evening with a 38-21 victory.

Over the weekend the Varsity team competed in the Southern California Challenge at Temescal Canyon High School.  The team wrestled hard and ended the Dual meet with a team record of 5-2.

The Frosh-Soph team hosted ten teams at the Mustang Invitational and posted some impressive results.   Eric Vitt finished with a championship and Matt Lugo, Steve Hill, Alex Tang and Jordan Tabuno all finished with 2nd place medals.

The action continues this Wednesday night for all levels with a Non-League Dual match vs. Mater Dei High School at home in the YLHS gym.

The following day, the Varsity team will be traveling to the Las Vegas Holiday Classic to compete on Friday and Saturday.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: All levels will practice December 30th, 31st, January 1st, 2nd from 8:00 am – 11:00 am.  (CLICK HERE to see the team calendar)

Finally, a few more comments about the Frosh-Soph Mustang Invitational.  The Mustang family volunteers were AWESOME.  The adage, “Many hands make light work” was certainly demonstrated on Saturday.  There are a number of things that make a tournament great and hospitality is one of them.  All of the effort put forth by the Mustang families during setup, service, and tear down is really appreciated.  With effort like this, combined with good wrestling and efficiently run brackets, it won’t be long before the Mustang tournaments will be known as the best of the best.
