Killian 5 Counties

Last week was another terrific week for the Mustangs. On Thursday night, the Mustangs hit the road for our third Empire League Dual against a very tough Cypress High School team. All levels had hard fought team duals with the JV winning 45-30 and the Varsity ending the evening with a 51-18 victory to run the Mustangs record to 3-0 in the Empire League.

The following day (Friday), some of the Varsity team traveled to Five Counties, which was held at Fountain Valley High School, and is one of the elite tournaments in all of California. Five-Counties featured 96 teams in 64-man brackets in a double-elimination tournament. It featured 22 of the top 27 teams in The California Wrestlers team rankings. The Mustangs had seven of ten wrestlers make the second day of competition in the event and were led by Killian Gale who ended the tournament with an impressive 6th place finish in the 132 pound weight class.

On Saturday, the Varsity team also competed in the Troy Warrior Classic at Troy High School. The Mustangs finished 6th as a team in the 20 team tournament and had four strong place winners. Jacob Roehl (132), Ryan Jalabi (171) and George Madrigal (285) finished in 2nd place and Brendan Steinman (106) finished in the 3rd place spot.

The Frosh-Soph and Junior Varsity traveled to the Canyon Duals at Canyon High School where they wrestled strong in four team duals.

The action continues this Thursday night for all levels in our last home league dual match against Kennedy High School. Thursday night is also Senior night, which gives us a chance to recognize our Seniors and just as importantly, to recognize their parents and families for all their support.
