Fortenbaugh, Myers Lead Yorba Linda to Historic Season

Yorba Linda’s wrestling team gathers together to hear from its coaches after winning its semifinal against Mayfair Saturday afternoon. Yorba Linda went on to defeat Valencia in the final round of the CIF Duals Division 5 championships.

Over the past few weeks, the Yorba Linda High wrestling coach has been asked dozens of times, but he’s more than happy to share the tale of why his hair is such a color.

“It was a bet with the team,” Fortenbaugh said, laughing. “I told them, ‘If you guys win CIF, you can paint (my hair) any color you want to.’ I shouldn’t have said that, because I knew we had a shot at CIF, but anything to give them added motivation. I just didn’t think they were going to hold me to it.”

“It’s amazing,” Fortenbaugh said. “I’ve always wanted to start a new program somewhere to put my stamp on it.”
