Yet another great week of wrestling! Thursday the Varsity team torched Kennedy High School 58-3, for their sixth consecutive Empire League victory. Frosh/Soph and JV both won their duals, proving the Mustangs are for real at all levels.
On Friday morning, 13 varsity wrestlers braved the storm, or should we say, the drivers, Coach Forty, Josh Gale, Jennifer Fuher and Dan Myers, braved the storm and traveled to Victor Valley High school for the Dick Comly Invitational. 32 schools, from California and Nevada provided some great wrestling and good competition.
The Mustangs showed they are coached well and can wrestle with the best. Brandon Gee wrestled back from a third round lost to the number two seed and came home with a fourth place finish. Killian Gale showed his resolve after a quarter final lost, by coming back for a third place medal.
Michael Lugo, used all six minutes in his consolation semi-final match with a take down to a cradle and advanced to wrestle for third. Mike ended the day in fourth. Hunter “The Beast ” Priest, wrestled tough and brought home a fifth Place medal. And Angel Ochoa placed 3rd!
Landon Myers, above, was the tournament champion, winning his final match in OT.
Overall, the Mustangs collected enough team points for a sixth place finish. Well done Mustangs!
